Trial by Fire

This term, Trial by Fire, became an inside joke between myself and my coworkers at FS. It is the result of working in an environment where everyone is new to their employment role to some capacity, without present guidance or training, and relying on skills gained from previous jobs that didn't always translate well.

Learning from our mistakes, and there were a lot, seemed to be the only way we were able to grow, and oftentimes it was with great pains.

Without trying to seem insensitive to anyone suffering, signs can be stressful, and PTSD, in our definition, was the post-traumatic-sign-disorder that became a part of our work culture. We coped by turning our experiences into humor and used the term Trial by Fire to describe the process.

We accidentally emailed this proof to our customer. At FS Twinsburg we wear our masks how we want...

Thankfully this is a great customer who was able to laugh at our mistake!

(And at us, as well)

Night Edition Nightmare

This black carbon vinyl project quickly turned into a nightmare when we discovered the vinyl would not stick to the transfer paper. We wasted almost the entire purchased black carbon vinyl roll practicing technique (blue masking tape for die-cut vinyl transfer) as we failed numerous times and tension and frustration was at a climax. Our shop spent over 96 hours completing this installation, and it was devastating when the vehicle owner threatened to sue us a year later when the vinyl began to fail. After the customer was fully reimbursed to prevent legal action, I was still in recovery and I absolutely refused when the customer returned two years later wanting to redo the entire project. So no sir, sorry, Night Edition has been permanently put to bed. It did look really awesome though!
